Jolene manages the complex details of ATI’s escorted departures with precision and care.  “At the end of the day, I’m most satisfied to know that our travelers are not only safe and that their needs are met, but that they are having the time of their lives. I relate when they say they can’t sleep because they are so excited.”

Director of Escorted Experiences

A little background:
I grew up in Nebraska until I was 16 then moved to New Hampshire. After high school and one year of college in the North East, I moved to Sarasota, FL where I graduated from USF with a Bachelor of Social Work degree. I met my husband of almost 24 years in Sarasota. We have two children, who are not so small anymore. I worked in foster care for a couple of years then spent over ten years working as a guardian of incapacitated adults.
It was a refreshing change to leave social services to work at Admiral Travel as Director of Escorted Experiences. I still manage groups, only now they consist of happy people excited to travel to fascinating destinations!
What are your key accomplishments on the job?
Anytime a group returns from a fantastic trip that went smoothly and is now a wonderful memory for them is a successful departure.
Why did you choose to work in this industry?
I was looking to be in a more positive and happy environment rather than what I was doing previously.
What’s your approach to customer service?
I strive to be thorough in communications and provide clear, complete and correct information to guests and tour escorts.
What would your pet say about you if we asked for a reference?
I think my cats would say the same as above, but would add that they love when I give them extra treats!
Describe yourself using only film titles.
It’s a Wonderful Life… Breakfast Club… Fried Green Tomatoes… Jaws
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
I think the best depends on what you need to hear at that time.
Describe the most incredible view you’ve ever seen.
I will never forget the sight of the pyramids in Egypt emerging from almost nowhere as we approached. I knew we were going to the pyramids but nothing prepares you for seeing and standing right next to these impressive and massive structures! Truly one of the Seven Wonders of the World!
What is your favorite travel memory?
So many favorite memories to list one.  Loved taking my daughter, Courtney on a Crystal river cruise, or sailing on a Silversea cruise with my husband, fun friend trips to Vegas and New Orleans, and once in a lifetime trips to Egypt, South Africa and the Galapagos
What is your favorite travel documentary?
I used to like to watch Anthony Bourdain’s Travel Channel series, No Reservations, and was just recently introduced to Peter Greenberg.
Finally, what is your ultimate dream/bucket list adventure?
I would love to go back to Egypt and do the trip as a traveler – to hear the history of everything!  Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Japan, Canada, Peru…and more 🙂
