In an effort to learn from the very best, I like to stay up to date with what Conde Nast Traveler is up to. I recently clicked on an article whose title had something to do with long-haul holidays and great value for money.

Maybe it’s the algorithm but they really know how to reel me in…

If affordability does not top your list of considerations, this blog post may not be riveting reading for you and that is totally okay with us! I still think we should be friends! Please allow me to direct you to the Journeys tab of this website!

As a young person who still does not know and is taking absolutely no action to understand how a credit score works, (be honest, you have no idea, either!) bang for my buck is a huge consideration of mine when I’m looking to travel.

As each of us places value on various interests, we generally know for ourselves a price we are willing to pay and a price that would send us running. Like with any other major purchase, many factors become relevant. Where to go? What to do? All the rest, you get it!

CN Traveler seems to have sourced their numbers from the Long Haul Holiday report from Post Office Travel Money. After myself taking a quick look at the Post Office findings, I feel quite good about what we have offered and still have to offer you this year!

The Post Office assesses and publishes their findings based on “the average daily cost of typical tourist purchases for travelers…”

(here, I will clarify that you, ATInsiders, are no typical tourists.)

(Please forgive the misnomer.)

Cape Town, South Africa has been listed as the world’s cheapest long-haul holiday destination for 2024.

Many of you may perhaps already consider yourself lovers of the Mother City; it is no secret that Cape Town is one of our very favorites here in the ATI office.

Pictured left: I stayed a while in Cape Town in 2022, just studying and working and… smiling this big!! From beaches to vines to arts and culture, what more could anyone want from a city destination?!

It seems also that Egypt, another of our beloved again-and-again destinations is the most affordable it has been in a long time, in part due to a weaker Egyptian pound.

Oh, and wouldn’t you know it! We happen to have a VIPLane departure set for Egypt just next year! What perfect timing!

*whispers* Insider tip: with the GEM up and ready after much anticipation, this rich destination may very well drop out of the list of top 10 most affordable holidays soon…

Whether it’s Cape Town or Sharm el-Sheikh or anywhere in between, we’d be happy to find you a great value, bang-for-your-buck, kick-butt holiday sometime soon.

My list, you ask? My list and the Post Office list overlap at Kenya and Chile.

What’s on your list? Let us know!
