Setting sail to see the world by ship is a truly special experience. The smell of the sea, the breeze at your back, all the amenities you could hope for in one central place, and those views! Oh, how we miss the views.

In case it’s not obvious, we clearly miss cruising the globe – call it our version of cabin fever! Between the start of Spring, temperatures rising and the fond recollection of previous charters, our team is patiently waiting to board once again. To tie us over, our ATI Travel Advisors have dug into our memory trove to share some of the most incredible sights, experiences, and people we’ve encountered.

“One of my favorite parts of cruising is being able to sit outside on our balcony and enjoy a glass of our favorite pink bubbles as the ship sails away from the most beautiful places on earth. I also really enjoy the all-inclusive aspect and feeling like you don’t have to sign a check every time you leave the dinner table. And of course, the most wonderful part of all is the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and establish friendships that have proven to last a lifetime! Both Ryan and I terribly miss cruising and we are so ready to get back on board! We may just sail for an entire year once the ships open up and we’ll invite all of our ATInsiders to join us!” – Malaka

“My favorite cruise memory is sailing down the fjord heading to Kotor, Montenegro. The sail in or out takes about 2 hours and it is enchanting – the views are fabulous as you sail quite close to shore winding through the fjord. The town of Kotor at the end of the fjord is a mini- Dubrovnik with a beautiful harbor. The town is old and magical, if you’re a “Game of Thrones” fan then you would love it as the series was filmed in Croatia and Montenegro.” – Amanda

“Cruising the Croatian coast by gulet was one of my most enjoyable trips. The traditional design yachts are exclusive use with all the flexibility you could desire from meals to drinks to activities and itinerary. Visiting small towns and villages along the coast that would otherwise be inaccessible and cruising through the brightest deep blue water I’ve ever seen was something really special.” – Michael

“Our ship glided through water the color of jade, sailing past Cat Ba Island as we entered HaLong Bay aboard the Regent Mariner. It was daybreak, hauntingly quiet and the morning mist was heavy in the air with sunlight backlighting hundreds of limestone formations. Breathtaking is an understatement, and my only reaction was pure awe. I realized I am one of the luckiest people on earth to have witnessed that unique display from Mother Nature. This memory will remain with me for all of my days.” – Michelle

“I had the opportunity to travel down the Ganges River in India, the most sacred river to Hindus. It is a lifeline to millions of Indians who live along its course and depend on it for their daily needs. It was an honor to visit local villages and experience life along the banks. Not only were the off-board experiences memorable, being on board the Uniworld ship was very special.  They incorporated cooking classes, the culture and history, and the wellness that is famous from the region! From learning to make chai tea to watching Bollywood dancers on the bow of the ship, cruising opened my eyes both onboard and off, and created a greater appreciation for the destination and its people!” – Isabelle

“Sailing along the coast of Turkey by gulet is my favorite travel experience yet (right up there with Safari) as I loved being able to see the small ports and unique towns dotted along the coast that I wouldn’t necessarily have visited otherwise. Waking up in the morning by jumping into the bright turquoise waters of the Aegean sea before breakfast is the only way I wish to wake up from here on! Oh, and I got engaged to my now-husband on that cruise so it feels a little extra special!” – Alexis
