March 19, 2025 Arrival into Colombo

Welcome to beautiful Colombo. You will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel

Arrive in Colombo and ease into your Sri Lankan adventure with a day at leisure. Immerse yourself in the city’s unique atmosphere and explore at your own pace. Here are some ideas to get you started (at own cost):

March 20, 2025 Touring in Colombo

Today, we’ll explore more of the city of Colombo. Visit the shopping hotspots, Paradise Road, Barefoot Gallery, Lakpahana, Lakmedura for local produce and interesting artefacts. Onward, walk around the Old Colombo Fort area with a Guide/Chauffeur. This fascinating walk begins at Colombo’s beautifully restored colonial old Dutch Hospital. The walk takes you through old Colonial Colombo before diving into the bustling Pettah markets; it’s perfect for those with an interest in photography, architecture and history. The walk takes place in a circular fashion with stories of each and every iconic sight and chances to meet every day locals. A break for tea, some street food and bottled water is provided along the way. The walk ends back where you started at the Old Dutch Hospital.

After your exploring return to the hotel to wind down for an evening at leisure.

Galle was once a prominent seaport long before western rule in the country; Persians, Arabs, Greeks, Romans, Malays and Indians all made their way into Galle throughout centuries past but ‘modern’ Galle began in 1505, when the first Portuguese ship, under Lourenco De Almeida was driven there by a storm. 135 years later, the Dutch invaded and finally the British arrived in 1796, who preserved the Fort unchanged.
