September 2, 2022 –  Step aboard the gleaming blue-and-gold carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and settle into your cabin as the train departs for the first leg of your historic journey to Paris.

Dinner is a sumptuous affair, prepared on board by our skilled chefs and served in one of the beautifully restored dining cars. Afterwards, perhaps linger over a liqueur in Bar Car ‘3674’, listening to the pianist tickle the ivories of the baby grand. As you retire for the first night in your comfortable cabin, the train crosses into Bulgaria.

September 3, 2022 –  Your steward serves continental breakfast in your cabin as the train winds its way to Romania.

Soak up the scenery through the windows before enjoying a delicious brunch. Soon afterward, you arrive in Bucharest and alight. Local guides accompany you on a coach tour of the city en route to your hotel.  Dinner this evening is in a private venue.  The dress code recommended is a jacket and tie for men and the equivalent for women.

Peles Castle, Romania

September 4, 2022  – This morning, rejoin the train and relax over a delicious brunch in one of the elegant dining cars as you journey towards the mountain town of Sinaia.

Board a private coach for the short journey to Peles Castle, the fairytale palace built by Romania’s King Carol as his summer retreat. The very first Orient Express passengers visited this beautiful residence in October 1883, at the King’s personal invitation.

Return to the train in the late afternoon for a leisurely journey towards Hungary. Enjoy another delectable dinner and relaxing night on board.

September 5, 2022 –  On arrival in Budapest, enjoy a short, guided coach ride through the city followed by a panoramic cruise along the River Danube.

Arrive at your hotel after lunch. In the evening, we’ll escort you to a nearby private venue for an excellent Hungarian dinner.

September 6, 2022  – After re-boarding the train in the late morning, savour lunch as you course through vineyards and forests to picturesque Lake Balaton in the Transdanubian region of Hungary.

You’re welcome to disembark for a sunset stroll by the lake before rejoining the train for dinner and your final night on board.

September 7, 2022 – Enjoy a continental breakfast in your cabin as the train travels through Germany prior to entering France.

Our skilled chefs prepare an exceptional farewell lunch for you before, all too soon, the train arrives into Paris Gare de l’Est Station, your journey’s end.
