March 6, 2025 Arrival in Delhi – Arrive in Delhi by flight and be met and escorted through customs, and to your accommodations at The Oberoi, New Delhi.

The Oberoi New Delhi is in the center of Indias cosmopolitan capital city. The interiors of the hotel have been designed in a contemporary interpretation of Sir Edwin Lutyens New Delhi architecture. The hotel has 220 rooms and suites. All rooms and suites feature large picture windows that frame unmatched views of the Delhi Golf Course on one side and the historical Humayuns Tomb on the other.

Capital for many ancient and medieval empires, the city of Delhi was built on the banks of the Yamuna River and its history dates back more than 3000 years. Indraprastha according to legends, was the old capital of Delhi and was founded by the Pandavas, the protagonists in the Mahabharat epic, dated around 1500 B.C. The excavations were located near the Old Fort in what is today Central Delhi. Today, this burgeoning metropolis is now home to 23 million and is a truly unique blend of the old and new. March 7, 2025 Delhi Sightseeing

Start your day with a guided walking tour through Shajahanabad, Old Delhi’s historic heart, alongside a local historian. Be awestruck by the majestic Jama Masjid, one of India’s largest mosques. And, while the Meena Bazaar may not be in its prime, it still offers a glimpse into Delhi’s bustling past. Witness the harmonious coexistence of Jain and Hindu temples, towering mosques like the revered Sikh Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib, and even a historic Baptist church and school, all standing testament to Delhi’s diverse heritage.

Next, visit the Bangala Sahib Gurudwara – Delhi’s biggest Sikh temple, spend time visiting the main shrine. Please note that shoes are not allowed in the temple and men and women are both requested to cover their heads with a scarf/Handkerchief.

We will then pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Birla House, the site of his assassination on the 30th of January, 1948, and now a museum dedicated to his life and legacy.

Be mesmerized by an evening visit to Humayun’s tomb, the mausoleum of second Mughal Emperor. The first real monument with Persian architecture, this red sandstone, and white marble edifice is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is stunningly beautiful.

March 8, 2025 Delhi to Varanasi

March 9, 2025 Varanasi to Agra Rise for a 6:00a early morning sunrise boat cruise where you pass Manikarnika Ghat (one of the main funeral ghats) and then cruise up to Tulsi Ghat for a very special walking tour. Float back to Dashashwamedh Ghat and after climbing Man Mahal and see Varanasi exhibition, do a walk through the old City and its winding lanes. There are small temples everywhere and it is a very vibrant ancient city.

Transfer to the airport for flight Delhi and then drive to Agra. (Approx. 3.5 hours)

  • City Palace: Visit the City Palace, the private residence of the Jaipur Royal family after they moved from Amer. Only part of the palace is open to the public.
  • Jantar Mantar: Next door, see the Jantar Mantar, an observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II, grandfather of the late Maharaja of Jaipur, who had a passion for astronomy.
  • Hawa Mahal: Drive by the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), a five-story facade overlooking the walled city’s main thoroughfare. This stunning structure is built in beautiful pink sandstone.

The sightseeing tour will be followed by a walking tour of the Old City and its bazaars. This fascinating tour takes you to the main attractions within the Jaipur Old City walls, including some “off the beaten path” spots with unique historical context and unforgettable cultural experiences.
