July 13-20, 2026

Set off on an unforgettable journey to Cape Town and the pristine wilderness of Tswalu Kalahari. Begin your adventure in Cape Town, where the stunning landscapes and vibrant city life converge. Feel the exhilaration of soaring above the iconic Table Mountain and picturesque coastline in a helicopter, capturing breathtaking views from above. Indulge in the serene beauty of the Cape Winelands, savoring exquisite wines amidst rolling vineyards. Then, escape to the tranquil expanse of Tswalu Kalahari, where luxurious solitude and extraordinary wildlife encounters await.

“Admittedly I arrived to Tswalu only knowing that all of the ATI guests we’ve sent have loved their time there and yearn for more. The culinary experience at Klein Jan is reason alone to come visit Tswalu – when I visited for the first time last month, my fingers couldn’t move fast enough: I shot so much video and took so many pictures with the intention of sharing them with all of you. It occurred to me, though, that my genuine surprise may have been a key piece to the puzzle; as difficult as it is to keep this experience (mostly) under wraps, I’m certain Klein Jan will delight you all the more if I do. What I will tell you is that this meal was truly, hands-down one of my most amazing travel experiences to date. And as you know… I’ve had my fair share of amazing travel experiences! Additionally, the game is amazing (the meercats were a highlight), the guiding team is overflowing with knowledge, and the private jet from Cape Town from the V & A waterfront lands you in your seat, on game drive within 3 hours of take-off which is, obviously, extraordinary! With options for sleep outs, horseback riding, bush walks and so much more, Tswalu will, to say the least, pair very well with a trip to the Sabi Sand.”

Day 3 – July 15, 2025 Take to the skies in Cape Town

Are you ready to see Cape Town with fresh eyes? Upon booking, you’ll choose from one of the following four distinct, unique helicopter experiences to enjoy today.

  • !Khwa ttu Heritage Centre
    • From the V&A Heliport, head to the West Coast for a day steeped in indigenous knowledge. Your 30-minute flight will land you amongst native fauna and flora for a half-day of personalized tours, freshly-prepared food and home-brewed drink, all facilitated by San hunter-gatherers whose knowledge and traditions have sustained their people for some thousands of years. Prepare for a full day, leaving around 10am and returning around 3pm.
  • Fynbos Mountain Picnic
    • Departing from the V&A Waterfront, picnic-ers will take a full Cape Point Peninsula flight before landing to enjoy lunch at Baskloof Private Nature Reserve. With an option for a short walk to Platberg before lunch, this choice offers relaxed variety and sustenance! A feast for the senses, here you will indulge in magnificent views and tastes to match. Dietary accommodations are, of course, accounted for. Guests should prepare to depart around 11am and return around 3pm.
  • Gin & Tonic on the mountain
    • From the V&A heliport, fly for 20 minutes to Baskloof nature reserve. An extremely diverse ecosystem, South Africa’s fynbos has proven itself useful to gin producers in the region; take some time to enjoy an Inverroche Gin and tonic (or another drink of your choosing!), in and amongst the very botanicals in your glass! A short, scenic trip, you’ll travel back to base along the Atlantic Coast and around Cape Point, arriving only 1.5 hours after you left!

  • Heli-biking in Stellenbosch
    • A choice for the avid adventurers, heli-biking grants our cyclists access to extraordinary trails and expands perspectives like never before. Depart and return to the Cape Town international airport; fly for 25 minutes to Jonkershoek and take two separate drops, race through the trails of Stellenbosch like very few have. There are also options for hiking and a picnic lunch for any non-cyclists in your group! Cyclists should prepare for a 4-hour experience.

Day 4 – July 16, 2025 The Quintessential Cape Winelands

A creativity hub of the New World, South Africa is producing wines with character. From experimental field blends to classic Cabernets; from obscure varietals to endemic grapes, the Cape winelands put South Africa’s best on display. On our last full day in the Mother City, we’ll head eastward, along winding roads with valley views; we’ll gather together, glasses in hand, and toast to what Cape Town showed us and dream of what the bush may hold for us..

Days 5-8 – July 17-20, 2025 Cape Town to Tswalu

Travel to Tswalu and unwind where excellence meets adventure. Experience the true essence of wilderness on the southern edge of the Kalahari, with exclusive access to South Africa’s largest privately protected area. From the striking Korannaberg mountains to the characteristic arid savannah and iconic ochre dunes of the southern Kalahari, your days on safari will be spontaneous and leisurely, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty surrounding you.

Tswalu’s accommodations are designed for ultimate comfort and elegance, featuring spacious suites with in-suite tea and coffee facilities, a private bar, and a gourmet pantry. Guests can enjoy a variety of dining experiences, from boma dinners to dune picnics, all complemented by a selection from their award-winning wine list.

Embark on exhilarating game drives at Tswalu, led by knowledgeable guides and trackers who provide exclusive insights into the reserve’s diverse wildlife. Explore the Kalahari on nature walks and walking safaris, immersing yourself in the region’s natural wonders and learning about traditional plant uses along the way.

Day 8 – July 20, 2025 Farewell, Tswalu

Bid farewell to Tswalu Kalahari, carrying with you the serene memories of its breathtaking landscapes and unique wildlife, and return home enriched by the extraordinary experiences of your journey through South Africa.

“I think what makes it especially unique is its position on private land; this affords guests lots of opportunities to get off the vehicle — I got to see a rhino on foot! And the desert biome is such that we not only saw species we’d never before seen but we also saw species we knew, like cheetahs, behaving in ways entirely new to us as a result of their various adaptations. We saw evidence of evolution firsthand, I guess! It’s really special, the spots of crazy lush green juxtaposed by the dramatic aridity of the desert. When it comes to Klein Jan, I wouldn’t want to give any of the secrets away. They just ‘wow’ you at every turn. We experienced it during lockdown when South African law prohibited the sale of alcohol and I can. I just remember thinking, ‘if this is this great without the glass of wine…’ Luckily, I have a convenient excuse to go back!
