As a result of the travelers absence these protected areas are at risk to increase poaching and further destruction of these precious natural resources which so many rural communities have become dependent on. Tens of thousands of households and hundreds of thousands of individuals are currently without work and without any income. Poaching has risen dramatically across the continent recently.
