Male Lion in the Okavango Delta

June 19, 2021 – On arrival at Maun Airport and after clearing customs and immigration, you will be met and assisted by a Wilderness Safaris representative to your light aircraft for your onward circuit air transfer to DumaTau.

DumaTau Camp

Brand-new DumaTau’s extensive lagoon frontage ensures that each ultra-spacious 142 m2 guest suite has uninterrupted views over Osprey Lagoon, and the movements of the mega-herds of elephant that the Linyanti is so famous for.

All seven twin tents and one family unit have a private plunge pool and a comfortable lounge, and feature a large bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers. The main dining and lounge area boasts its own wide-angle vistas, while a new wellness centre and gym – shared with Little DumaTau – includes an inviting shaded deck, a lap pool, spa, snack deli and trading store.

June 19 – 22 – Days on Safari at DumaTau

The camp works closely with local authorities to ensure the conservation of wildlife in the area. It supports dedicated conservation and research focused on species on the IUCN Red List such as the African wild dog, elephant, lion and roan antelope.

DumaTau exists to be an example of how a luxury safari camp can have a light ecological footprint without compromising the guest experience – and to make a positive contribution to local conservation initiatives.

DumaTau

With incredible habitat diversity, Linyanti is a haven for wildlife, on land and water. Game viewing and river excursions top the agenda here.

Morning and afternoon game drives reveal the rich wildlife of the area where predators and elephant are often the highlight. Plains game and diverse birdlife also offer fantastic sightings. The open 4×4 Land Rovers each accommodate a maximum of seven people, allowing each guest a ‘window’ seat.

Night drives with spotlights allow you to find those nocturnal animals you wouldn’t see during the day. These often include lesser bushbaby, spring hare, aardwolf, serval, large spotted genet and, if you are extremely lucky, the elusive pangolin!

Depending on qualified guide availability, nature walks with skilled, armed guides are wonderful ways of getting close to nature and observing the smaller things you miss when travelling by vehicle.

Explore the Linyanti River by boat or barge, the latter perfect for picnics or sundowners or searching out those elusive birds so prevalent in the channels. *This activity is water-level dependent.

Chitabe

Chitabe is located in the Chitabe Concession, which covers 22 000 hectares of pristine Okavango Delta wilderness. This unique area harbours a massive variety of habitats within close proximity giving rise to a surprising diversity of species. The mix of Okavango and Kalahari makes for an excellent home to an abundant array of herbivores: giraffe, buffalo, red lechwe, tsessebe, impala and elephant, which in turn support the larger predators: lion, leopard, spotted hyaena, cheetah and wild dog.
