September 23, 2021 – Touring Tokyo

Today, you will discover Tokyo.
After your breakfast at the hotel, a guide will come to pick you up.

Start your day with a beautiful panoramic view of the city from Tokyo SkyTree! Boasting a height of 634m, Tokyo Sky Tree is the world’s highest stand-alone communication tower. Located in Sumida City Ward, not far from Asakusa, the tower features two observation decks with spectacular views.

After the visit of this futuristic tower, you will just cross the river and visit Asakusa, one of the few remaining old towns in Tokyo that still has the atmosphere of Edo. Tourists flock the area to explore the grounds that surround the temple complex either by checking the local shops along Nakamise-dori or by visiting Senso-ji Temple.

There, after the visit of the district and a prayer at Senso-ji temple, you will have free time to enjoy lunch, in one of the many traditional restaurants.

After lunch, you will be heading to the West of the city, where you will have a kintsugi initiation. Kintsugi (“golden joinery”) is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. You will be able to bring back home your creation.

Then, you will discover the Omotesando district, the Japanese Champs Elysee, leading to the most important shrine of the capital, Meiji-jingu shrine. Meiji Jingu is dedicated to the spirit of the late Emperor Meiji and one of the popular sites in Japan for a traditional Japanese wedding. The park that surrounds the shrine has around 120,000 trees, making one forget that just outside the shrine grounds are two of the city’s popular shopping districts, Harajuku and Omotesando.

After your visit of the shrines and its surrounding district, you will head back to your hotel.

There, you will enjoy a private tea ceremony. You will discover the codes of the ceremony and try the famous matcha.

You will then have lunch on a traditional boat called a Yakatabune. You will enjoy a Japanese meal while the boat will be cruising around Tokyo Bay.
After lunch you will head to Hamarikyu Garden. The garden has served many purposes over the centuries. It was originally built as a feudal lord’s Tokyo residence and duck hunting grounds during the Edo Period (1603-1867).

Then you will have some free time in Ginza, Tokyo’s most famous upmarket shopping, dining and entertainment district. After your free time you will be transferred back to your hotel.
